Understanding your consumption and cost in the cloud is important, nobody likes nasty expensive surprises at the end of the month.
To help understand your consumption better, OCI has released a new Cost Analysis tools.
In the new Cost Analysis tool you can filter on:
– Tags
– Service
– SKUs
– Units
It is also possible to change the type of grouping, so you can easily see your consumption per Service Owner or project Tag.
This new tool together with the new cost reports is a good step forward. I still think the task of controlling and understanding cost will be a challenge for customers with little cloud experience, so for sure room for growth there 🙂
Hi Richard,
The new dashboard is in the right direction and it’s much more mature. However the one thing missing is the custom date range. I’m managing 3 tenancies, each having different billing cycle and thus the new dashboard is not useful for us. The CSVs of the other hand are a real gem .
Keep up the good work!
Sve
Sorry, but really do not agree. The new cost analysis setup is very cluttered and difficult to filter. At least the old one was easy to understand, had decent filter options and had the capability to filter on my wishes (and not only mandatory not customizable filters)
Hi Marco, the old version should also still be available. I would recommend giving feedback via the official Oracle Cloud Community forms. https://cloudcustomerconnect.oracle.com/resources/9c8fa8f96f

Rich,
I dont see the cost analysis tool in my tenancy in SYD. Is it being rolled out gradually ?
I have built a full blown analytics on OAC which we already run using Adi zohar data fromADW and its very useful and insightful .
